The practice of renting pews was common in 18th and 19th century churches; members paid a fee for the right to occupy a particular pew every week. This bound manuscript is a record of pew rents due to St. Peter's Church in March 1779. Entries are listed alphabetically by last name, with pew number, number of seats, sums due and sums paid. Pages after page 17 are blank and were not scanned.
