Description
The practice of renting pews was common in 18th and 19th century churches; members paid a fee for the right to occupy a particular pew every week. This bound manuscript is a record of arrears due to Christ Church and St. Peter's in March 1794. Entries are listed by pew number, with occupant's name, number of seats, sums due and sums paid. Christ Church arrears are listed from the beginning of the book, and St. Peter's arrears start on page 11.
