Description

The practice of renting pews was common in 18th and 19th century churches; members paid a fee for the right to occupy a particular pew every week. This bound manuscript is a record of pew rents due to Christ Church in 1832. Rents from March are listed first, followed by rents from September. Entries are listed by pew number, with occupants' names, number of seats rented, rent rate, arrears, total owed and amount paid.

Notes on the separation of Christ Church and St. Peter's appear in several places. Water damage renders some entries difficult to read.
