Gilbert Tennent (1703-1764) was an Irish-American Presbyterian clergyman, and one of the leaders of the Great Awakening.
Tennent begins this sermon about original sin by citing Romans 5:12, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned."
From dates noted in the manuscript, it appears Tennent wrote this sermon in 1744, and delivered it again in 1746, 1748, 1750, and 1753.

Abstract
De peccato originali imputato (On imputed original sin) surveys two-fold original sin as charged to Adam for eating the apple from the Tree of Knowledge. Because of this, original sin was now inherent in Adam and because he stood for all of humanity his crime was passed on to all his descendents, remedied by the expiation of Christ, the Second Adam, and the consequent urgent need of regeneration through baptism for those not yet believers.
