Gilbert Tennent (1703-1764) was an Irish-American Presbyterian clergyman, and one of the leaders of the Great Awakening.
Tennent begins this sacramental sermon by citing 1 Corinthians 11:26, "For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come."
From dates noted in the manuscript, it looks like Tennent wrote this sermon in 1744, and delivered it again in 1759.

Abstract
Sermo Sacramentalis (On the Sacrament) discusses the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper. Rev. Tennent reminds his hearers of Jesus as author of the ordinance "do this in remembrance of me," reviews directions for the Sacrament as given in the Bible, and begins to talk of the elements (but leaves off discussion of the wine). He presents details on how the Sacrament should be proclaimed and defined for worshippers, and how it should be understood and received by them, with the benefits for and obligations owed by worshippers. He examines the neglect of the Last Supper by some, what neglect deprives them of, and adds a list of people's reasons for not taking the Sacrament, and his responses to those excuses.
