Description

Gilbert Tennent (1703-1764) was an Irish-American Presbyterian clergyman, and one of the leaders of the Great Awakening.

Tennent wrote this sermon on Canticles (Song of Solomon) 1:4:
"Draw me, we will run after thee:
The king hath brought me into his chambers:
We will be glad and rejoice in thee,
We will remember thy love more than wine:
The upright love thee."

From dates noted in the manuscript it looks like Tennent wrote this sermon in 1757, then delivered it again in 1761.
