Gilbert Tennent (1703-1764) was an Irish-American Presbyterian clergyman, and one of the leaders of the Great Awakening.
From dates noted in the manuscript, it looks like Tennent wrote this sermon on "walking in faith" in 1745, and delivered it again in 1747. He begins by citing 2 Corinthians 5:7 and Hebrews 2:4. Note: the title listed on the cover, "De Religione ut negotio," refers to a different sermon. The correct title is listed on the title page.

Abstract
De ambulando in fide (On walking in faith) analyzes the essential worth of faith as a source of strength and enlightenment for imperfect mortals, and sets forth the kinds of faith as found in the Bible. Especially interesting is faith in action in different situations and what different persons in the Bible leaned on as needed: the power of God for Abraham, the wisdom of God for Peter, the justice of God for David, the faithfulness of God for Solomon. Advice to worshipers to call upon these attributes for help in their own situations. Emphasizes that God is both able and willing to aid, and that this double gift is like two handles that even the worst sinner under the most distress can lay hold of with both hands. and so be secure and shore up strength. God hates the sin but not the sinner. Many Bible citations offering the assurance of salvation for believers and for those struggling to believe, a question for self-examination of soul, and an exhortation to walk in faith.
