This file contains two letters addressed to William Meredith in the spring of 1829. The first letter, dated March 19, 1829, is from James Abercrombie, who expresses immense gratitude for Meredith's financial aid (noted as $50), stating that he had been "rendered pennyless" and that Meredith's help was "Knights service" [p. 1]. The second letter, dated May 9, 1829, is signed by James Abercrombie and Jackson Kemper concerning Mr. Brown, the Sexton of St. Peter's Church. They inform Meredith that despite Brown's "past general neglect of duty," he has acknowledged his improper conduct and promised "the most unremitted attention in future." They state they will not oppose the committee giving Brown a trial period until the next Vestry meeting, under penalty of removal upon the first complaint [p. 2r-2v].
